Joe
Tutor
University of Cambridge - AstrophysicsHi everyone I’m Joe! I've just finished four years of studying for a Bachelor's and Master's in Astrophysics at the University of Cambridge. During this time, I ranked in the top 15% of my cohort at undergraduate level, and averaged 80 in my Master's year to achieve a first class with distinction. Preceding University, I achieved straight A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A-level. Beyond academia, I have been tutoring Maths from University to GCSE level for two years, finding 5 hours a week alongside my degree to help others in their mathematical pursuit. During these student-led sessions, I make it a priority to establish a friendly classroom environment, which I believe is instrumental in ensuring students effectively engage with difficult mathematical concepts. With my help, I believe I can help students not only become better mathematicians, but also more effective and motivated learners.

I find this best prepares students for exams and equips them with the skill set to continue to learn independently in the future. I am well placed to provide tuition at all stages in the academic journey; this includes degree-level tuition, A-Level, GCSE, KS3 and below. For students younger than this I specialise in extension work and fostering a real love of exploring the subject at their level. I am up-to-date on examination syllabi and the requirements needed for achieving top marks. I also mentor students in applications for Oxbridge—specifically in Physics, Physics and Philosophy and other joint schools involving philosophy. This mentoring involves PAT test preparation, personal statement advice, and interview coaching and guidance.

University of Oxford - EngineeringHi, I'm Nikhil and I am a 2nd year Engineering student at the University of Oxford. I have a comprehensive knowledge of both the Cambridge and Oxford admissions systems, having successfully gone through the latter. I achieved 4 A*s at A-Level so I know what it takes to achieve the results necessary to secure a place at a top university. After experiencing the tutorial system for an entire year I know what a student needs to be equipped with to be able to thrive at a place like Oxford. In my tutoring style I like to relate a new concept to a student by using analogies to something they may understand more intuitively, such as explaining electrical circuits with water flow. Outside of my degree, I enjoy rowing (something I picked up while in Oxford) as well as playing the guitar. I am excited to help students achieve their goals and go on to succeed in many different ways!
-
Bryher
Tutor
University of Cambridge - Natural SciencesHi, I‘m Bryher, a 2nd year Natural scientist at Clare college, Cambridge. I am specialising in Chemistry, although my experience in both physical and biological sciences at Cambridge allows me to give a broader range of tutoring experience that is necessary for natural sciences admissions process. Prior to Cambridge, I did Physics, Chemistry, Maths and further Maths at A level - achieving A*s in all of them. Having three years of experience tutoring 11-17 year olds maths and science at GCSE and A level, I understand that no tutoring technique will work for all students - there is no one size fits all approach when it comes to learning. Therefore, I am passionate about helping each unique student achieve their maximum potential in a way that suits them best and hopefully they will fall in love with their subject in the process. Outside of academic work I play rugby and do athletics for the university. I am very excited to be a part of the OTC team and help students excel.
