Philosophy & Theology Tutors

  • Jack

    Tutor
    University of Cambridge - Philosophy

Hello! My name is Jack and I am a recent graduate from the University of Cambridge where I studied for a BA (ranked 2nd in cohort) and an MPhil in philosophy. Prior to attending university I achieved A*A*A* at A-Level, including AQA philosophy. I have over 100 hours of tutoring experience in philosophy, largely focused at helping students with university applications. During my master's I also helped to teach formal logic to first-year undergraduates. Previously, I have helped students by building their general knowledge, helping them to improve their personal statements, providing mock interviews and working with them to prepare for university admissions tests. When tutoring I adapt my approach to respond to the interests of my students and mentor them so that they are best placed to achieve their goals.

  • Bianka

    Tutor
University of Oxford - Philosophy and Theology

Hello, I'm Bianka! I am a final year University of Oxford student reading Philosophy and Theology at Christ Church. I speak Bulgarian fluently (as it's my native language!) and I have achieved a B1 level in French. I am currently an offer holder for the Courtauld Institute's MA History of Art course, which I am excited to be attending from the beginning of September. Having been both a tutor and a tutee in the past, I understand that acknowledging individual differences in learning styles is key and I absolutely believe that it is through resilience and creativity that a tutor's teaching style should be tailored to suit each student. I believe that tutoring is a collaborative effort, meaning that I cultivate active participation and stimulating conversation as a means to encourage an enjoyable way of learning. My favourite thing about tutoring is sharing my own interests with individuals who I then get to see grow their interest in the subject themselves, which is always really rewarding to see! After six years of tutoring experience, I've taught students from as young as 7 years old to as old as university age. I have extensive experience teaching ESL students, GCSE, A-Level and Oxbridge admissions across a range of subjects.

  • Theo

    Tutor
    University of Cambridge - Philosophy

Hi there! I'm a second year undergraduate currently reading Philosophy at the University of Cambridge. I have a deep passion for academia that stretches across the humanities and STEM subjects, having achieved A*s in Maths, Physics, Politics and Religious Studies at A Level as well as seven 9s and three 8s in a broad range of GCSE subjects. This passion is reflected in my chosen subject of Philosophy, which covers everything from ethics and political philosophy to logical form and the metaphysics of science. I am extremely keen to confer this passion onto my tutees, and to give them the support they need for an application to Oxford or Cambridge.

  • Max

    Tutor
University of Oxford - Physics & Philosophy

Hi everyone, I’m Max, and I’m currently studying for a Masters of Physics and Philosophy at the University of Oxford, having completed my Bachelors of Physics and Philosophy in 2022. Prior to attending university I achieved A*A*A* at A-Level, top grades in all of my GCSEs, and I was awarded the School Prize for the best academic performance in my secondary school. I am a hard-working tutor who truly loves learning and teaching. I use a combined approach of examination focused teaching and encouraging students to explore and develop a passion for their subject. I finds this best prepares students for exams and equips them with the skillset to continue to learn independently in the future. I am well placed to provide tuition at all stages in the academic journey; this includes degree-level tuition, A-Level, GCSE, KS3 and below. For students younger than this I specialises in extension work and fostering a real love of exploring the subject at their level. I am up-to-date on examination syllabi and the requirements needed for achieving top marks. I also mentor students in applications for Oxbridge—specifically in Physics, Physics and Philosophy and other joint schools involving philosophy. This mentoring involves PAT test preparation, personal statement advice, and interview coaching and guidance.

  • Jonathan

    Tutor
University of Cambridge - Theology, Religion, and Philosophy of Religion

Hi, I'm Jonathan! I recently graduated from the University of Cambridge where I studied Theology. Prior to this, I lived in and was educated in Paris, followed by studying A-levels in French, Politics and Pre-U Philosophy & Theology at the Royal Grammar School Guildford. During my time at Cambridge, I represented the University at both rugby and cricket and therefore I understand the need for balance while studying. For the last two years, I have been teaching for BlueBridge Education in a range of subjects from English conversation to leadership. This past experience, coupled with the study of an interdisciplinary subject such as Theology at University has provided me with the skill set and experience to help students across a broad range of academic disciplines. I hope that I can help you to excel in your studies as well as making them more bearable by balancing them with the rest of your life.
