Jaymin
Tutor
University of Oxford - MathsHi, I'm Jaymin a recent mathematics master's graduate from Oxford University. I've tutored maths for several years and taught a range of ages: from GCSEs all the way to A-Levels and Oxbridge MAT, STEP, TMUA and interview preparation. I always put the student and their needs first, so I tailor each session accordingly to prioritise this. I'm also a big believer in the saying 'actions speak louder than words', so don't just take my word for it when I say I'm passionate about maths: I have a YouTube channel with 2500+ subscribers on which I have uploaded over 350 maths videos. It's aimed at maths enthusiasts who really want to stretch their learning: https://www.youtube.com/JPiMaths. This gives you a little taste of who I am and how I can simplify complex topics. I look forward to meeting you!

University of Oxford - MathsHello! My name is Emma, I am a fourth-year Mathematics & Philosophy student at the University of Oxford. I have tutored maths for 5 years, both online and in-person. I come from an international background, so I am familiar with applying to a University that is outside your home country, and the unique challenges this entails. At school in Singapore, I studied the IB, in which I got 45/45, including top marks in Higher Level Maths and Further Maths. My tutoring style is adaptable to every student's needs, whether they need help to achieve a specific mark, get accepted into a chosen university or simply need guidance or personal skills training. I relish working with multiple age groups and people of different backgrounds, and hope to make your university application process or revision period for exams less stressful and intimidating. I look forward to meeting you!

Shaunak
Tutor
University of Oxford - MathematicsHi, I’m Shaunak. I am a third year undergraduate reading MMath Mathematics at Merton College, University of Oxford. I have tutored maths for students between Key Stage 3 and Oxbridge preparation, particularly preparing students for GCSEs, A Levels, the MAT and interviews. I completed my GCSEs from a comprehensive school and secured 11 A*s, teaching myself the Further Maths GCSE course as my school did not offer lessons for it. For sixth form, I applied to St. Paul's School to experience an environment that would push me academically beyond the confines of the curriculum - I achieved A*A*A*A despite the challenges of Covid. I enjoy sharing my love of maths with others, particularly in order to show them that maths doesn't need to be as intimidating and unintuitive as it is often made out to be! When going through a problem with a student I walk them through each step of the problem and its concepts so they get to apply what I've shown them in future problems, even when I'm not around. Each lesson is tailored to each student so that they can get the most out of me in each lesson and time is spent productively.

I find this best prepares students for exams and equips them with the skill set to continue to learn independently in the future. I am well placed to provide tuition at all stages in the academic journey; this includes degree-level tuition, A-Level, GCSE, KS3 and below. For students younger than this I specialise in extension work and fostering a real love of exploring the subject at their level. I am up-to-date on examination syllabi and the requirements needed for achieving top marks. I also mentor students in applications for Oxbridge—specifically in Physics, Physics and Philosophy and other joint schools involving philosophy. This mentoring involves PAT test preparation, personal statement advice, and interview coaching and guidance.

I can place myself in your shoes when setting deadlines and put myself in an unbiased assessor’s shoes when reviewing your work. Having been through the Oxbridge process myself, I know how overwhelming it can be, especially when sometimes the people around you might not follow similar timelines. I can assure you that you will always have an understanding, flexible, and passionate companion and mentor working with me. I am also excited to answer questions about Land Economy! Contrary to the image the name creates, Land Economy is extensive, and I would love to help students navigate and consider all their options before making a choice. I look forward to working together!

Nikhil
Tutor
University of Oxford - EngineeringHi, I'm Nikhil and I am a 2nd year Engineering student at the University of Oxford. I have a comprehensive knowledge of both the Cambridge and Oxford admissions systems, having successfully gone through the latter. I achieved 4 A*s at A-Level so I know what it takes to achieve the results necessary to secure a place at a top university. After experiencing the tutorial system for an entire year I know what a student needs to be equipped with to be able to thrive at a place like Oxford. In my tutoring style I like to relate a new concept to a student by using analogies to something they may understand more intuitively, such as explaining electrical circuits with water flow. Outside of my degree, I enjoy rowing (something I picked up while in Oxford) as well as playing the guitar. I am excited to help students achieve their goals and go on to succeed in many different ways!
-
Bryher
Tutor
University of Cambridge - Natural SciencesHi, I‘m Bryher, a 2nd year Natural scientist at Clare college, Cambridge. I am specialising in Chemistry, although my experience in both physical and biological sciences at Cambridge allows me to give a broader range of tutoring experience that is necessary for natural sciences admissions process. Prior to Cambridge, I did Physics, Chemistry, Maths and further Maths at A level - achieving A*s in all of them. Having three years of experience tutoring 11-17 year olds maths and science at GCSE and A level, I understand that no tutoring technique will work for all students - there is no one size fits all approach when it comes to learning. Therefore, I am passionate about helping each unique student achieve their maximum potential in a way that suits them best and hopefully they will fall in love with their subject in the process. Outside of academic work I play rugby and do athletics for the university. I am very excited to be a part of the OTC team and help students excel.
-
Edward

I have experience tutoring students for Oxbridge and Imperial applications. I successfully applied to Cambridge and Imperial for (Aeronautical) Engineering in 2021. I am very familiar with these competitive application processes and how to perform best in both the admissions assessments and interviews.
-
Finlay
Tutor
University of Oxford - EngineeringHi, my name is Finlay Drummond and I am a 4th year Engineering Science student at Exeter College, Oxford. In the past I have helped students through both the Cambridge and Oxford Engineering application processes (including personal statement, entrance exam and interview) as a tutor for The Clydeside Project, an access initiative for Scottish state-school pupils. Due to the disconnect between the Scottish and English university systems, and the resulting knowledge gap, I am experienced in helping students build their Oxbridge application from scratch and in teaching new material for the entrance tests and interviews. I have also tutored A-level and Scottish Higher students in Physics and Mathematics, both teaching new content and reinforcing concepts towards A* level. I am incredibly excited to share my passion for the sciences as a member of the OTC’s fantastic tutoring team, and I look forward to meeting you soon.
