    Lizzie

    Tutor
    University of Oxford - Medicine

Hello, my name is Lizzie and I’m currently in my fourth year studying medicine at the University of Oxford. I have been tutoring since I completed the IB three years ago, where I obtained a total of 44 points in the IB including 7s in HL Chemistry, Biology and English Literature. I teach Science and Maths up to IB-level, through online tutoring as well as teaching IB classes in multiple international schools across Europe. I also have extensive experience in helping students apply to university, particularly for medical school and Oxbridge admissions, offering guidance on the personal statement, admissions tests and interviews. I am passionate about improving access to higher education through helping students navigate the often-complicated admissions process, and have volunteered with groups offering guidance to those who would not be able to access it otherwise.

  • Rebecca

    Tutor
University of Cambridge - Biological Natural Sciences

Hi! My name is Rebecca, and I am a recent graduate of the University of Cambridge, having completed a BA in Natural Sciences. I tutor biology up to A-level and can provide support and advice for university applications. I have volunteered at a secondary school in East London to help teach several classes of students. I have also weekly tutored maths and science to multiple year groups in my secondary school and aimed to help students both understand the material from the course specification and explore the subjects beyond the specification. Having been through both the general university and Oxbridge application processes, I understand how unnerving and confusing it can be. This can particularly affect students from a state school and/or students with a learning difficulty such as myself. I believe it is important that every student, no matter their background, feels supported through all stages of their application.

  • Sophie

    Tutor
University of Cambridge - Psychological & Behavioural Sciences

Hi, I'm Sophie, I graduated from the University of Cambridge at the top of my year with a first class undergraduate degree in Psychological and Behavioural Sciences, earning a scholarship from Jesus College for my finals results. 'The other side' called me to my masters in Gender Studies, where I specialised in my favourite topic, feminism and mental health. I also had fun diving into lots of philosophical, political and sociological concepts related to gender. I graduated with a distinction in my master's degree from Oxford and am now looking forward to embarking on a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology here, too. I spent my years at Cambridge as a student ambassador helping to demystify the Oxbridge application process and prepare applicants for interviews. Candidates have found it helpful when I mimic the supervision/tutorial format of teaching at Oxbridge, preparing written work which leads to a focus on articulating concepts and arguments in a conversational setting. Growing confidence in this format, familiarisation with key subject-related ideas and refining technical writing skills is how I help with the admissions process. My interests outside of academia include design, wildlife, plants, cooking, rollerskating and wild swimming to name a few!

  • Raphaella

    Tutor
    University of Oxford - Medicine

Hi, my name is Raphaella, and I graduated from the University of Oxford in 2022, with a first class degree in Medical Science. My previous tutoring experience involves working as a volunteer tutor at the Coronavirus Tutoring Initiative, a student-led project aiming to support disadvantaged pupils who would not otherwise be able to access private tutoring. Similarly, I have worked as a mock interviewer at STEP in OxMed, for prospective Oxford medical students from state school backgrounds. I also have experience tutoring at Hilltop Academy Oxfordshire, tutoring GCSE classes of up to 5 students and advising on medical school admissions. In particular, we focused on improving personal statements, and teaching students how best to express themselves and describe their achievements within strict character limits. I’m really excited to meet you all and share my academic insights, guiding you towards your educational goals!

  • Josie

    Tutor
University of Cambridge - Biological Natural Sciences

Hi, I am Josie and I recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with a First Class degree in Biological Natural Sciences, ranking fourth overall in my cohort. I am an experienced and super friendly tutor with over 5 years of experience in tutoring Biology, Chemistry and Maths across a range of age groups, abilities, and qualifications. I achieved straight A*s at A-level in the aforementioned subjects, so am well aware of all the common pitfalls students have the propensity to fall into, as well as how best to avoid them. I am always enthusiastic about meeting new students and helping them deepen their understanding of STEM, because I feel that confusion around science and maths often prevents students from being able to ask fascinating questions and achieve their full potential. I am really excited to share my wealth of experience and educational insights as part of the young, dynamic OTC team!

  • Bea

    Tutor
    University of Oxford - Medicine

Hi everyone! I’m Bea, and I’m currently reading medicine at Worcester College, Oxford, specialising in immunology. I studied all three sciences and maths during sixth form, achieving the top grades in all of them. At GCSE, I received 12A*s. I have prior experience tutoring all three of these subjects at GCSE level, and have tutored biology and chemistry at A level to numerous students, both in person and online. In addition, I have also been able to provide help to medical students preparing to take the BMAT examination, and have provided interview preparation to these students as well. In my spare time I love to go horse riding and am on the university's riding team; I also enjoy playing hockey and netball. My tutoring style involves lots of question asking to ensure students are remaining engaged and can demonstrate their understanding, and we will work through the syllabus together to ensure all points have been covered. I think focusing on past exam questions is very important, as this allows refinement of exam technique, so there will be a focus on this.

  • Patrick

    Tutor
    University of Oxford - Medicine

Hi, I’m Patrick and I’m a first class graduate from the University of Oxford. I have worked with students studying for GCSEs, A-levels, and admission tests (UCAT and BMAT), and have success in helping students to achieve the top grades. I also have experience in giving personal statement advice and helping students prepare for interviews at a range of universities, focusing on MMIs, panel, and Oxbridge). I have experience tutoring privately at homes, online with the company MyTutor, and with several access programmes such as Zero Gravity and Target Oxbridge. I attended a state school where medicine and Oxbridge applications weren’t common, so I fully understand how confusing and overwhelming this process can be; I am so excited to be a tutor with the OTC because I can be involved in making the application process more transparent and enjoyable for future students.

  • Vith

    Tutor
    University of Oxford - Medicine

Hi everyone, I’m Vith I currently study medicine at the University of Oxford, having done my first three years at Pembroke College and am now doing my final three years at Green Templeton College. Prior to studying at Oxford, I did A-levels, I studied Maths (A), Biology (A) and Chemistry (A) and achieved 11As at GCSE. Teaching is something that I’ve genuinely enjoyed over the past few years. My experience includes tutoring for the ‘OxfordHub’ where I volunteered to tutor pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds within the local Oxford Area. More recently, I’ve tutored year 7-13 pupils in Biology, specifically preparing them for their summer examinations. My speciality, however, is medical school applications, to the University of Oxford, and other elite UK institutions. I have guided several students through personal statement writing workshops, sessions on the UCAT and BMAT, as well as giving mock interviews (geared not just towards Oxbridge but other medical schools as well). What I find particularly rewarding about tutoring is witnessing first-hand the positive impact a tutor can have on a student. Through several years of revision for my GCSEs, A-levels and now University exams, I believe I’m able to share useful advice and techniques enabling my students to excel academically. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to fulfil your academic potential!

  • Daniyal

    Tutor
    University of Cambridge - Medicine

Hi everyone - I'm Dan, a fourth-year Cambridge medic, who recently graduated with his BA in Neuroscience. I've tutored GCSE, A-levels and medical applications (admissions tests, interviews and personal statements), as well as reviewing personal statements for a whole range of courses at top universities. I remember just how tough GCSEs, A-levels and applying to university can be and, being on the other side now, if I can make that even a little easier, I would be delighted to help! I can tutor in GCSEs and A-levels, but specialise in medical applications (including Oxbridge), which involves running mock interviews, personal statement reviews and admission test prep. In my spare time, I stay active playing rugby and hitting the gym, volunteer/do charity work, and am involved in a number of university societies.
